Teeth Whitening Q & A
What is teeth whitening?
The confidence that comes with knowing you have a bright, white smile is priceless. However, even with proper brushing and flossing habits, some people need a little extra help to achieve the results they want.
Fortunately, there are a range of teeth whitening services and products available that can effectively make your teeth whiter and brighter. While they all differ slightly in their approach or application, all use a hydrogen peroxide bleaching agent that is applied to your teeth to bleach and whiten over time.
What tooth whitening options are available?
Teeth whitening can be performed either in a dentist’s office and at home. While both utilize the same principles, there are several key differences.
The take-home options involve a variety of strips, trays, and gels, all containing hydrogen peroxide. While this can be a cost-effective solution, it often takes longer to see results, and the results may not be as dramatic as in-office solutions.
Teeth whitening treatments performed in a dental office also utilize hydrogen peroxide; however, the concentration is much greater than take-home solutions, allowing for quicker and greater effectiveness.
The team at First Smile Dental is proud to provide their patients with the industry-leading Zoom! Whitening System.
How does the Zoom! Whitening System work?
During your appointment, you speak with the team at First Smile Dental about the procedure and ask any questions you may have. Often times, it’s a good idea to have your teeth cleaned prior to the procedure.
When you’re ready to receive the whitening treatment, the team first covers your gums and lips to isolate your teeth. Then they apply a concentrated hydrogen peroxide solution to your teeth, and use a special focused light to enhance the whitening effect of the peroxide.
Each treatment consists of three 15-minute sessions, for a total procedure time of 45 minutes.
